The Integration
Real movement happens in the mundane
I’ve entered a new season in my movement journey and I'm calling it the integration.
Integration may sound obvious, but I’ve found it difficult to integrate my movement in places where I have strong patterns and dynamics in place.
It’s one thing to get inspired and initiate a new bold project, but it’s another to integrate your movement in the boring mundane areas of life.
This is why we do the training - so we can take all these beautiful skills of opening, relating, connecting deeper to ourselves and implement them into our day to day lives so we can make life more enjoyable.
If I’m being honest the Den has been the biggest blessing but also a bit of a crutch for me.
I feel totally blessed that I have a space and community that holds me accountable and gives me the opportunity to lead, but I can also get stuck in this “safe world” of personal development and lose the ability to relate to people in my old world.
When I refer to old world, I mean the corporate world, family, and old friends. People that aren’t necessarily drinking the same Kool-aid as me.
These are huge parts of my life that I value and are far more challenging for me to show up in the full energetic expression of David.
The Den is a safe space where I feel unconditional acceptance. The outside world can feel a little more rigid.
It requires strength and leadership to stay in integrity and lead what you’re going for, especially when you’re in an environment where your values aren’t fully aligned.
Of course, we have choice and don’t need to put ourselves in these places. But the reality is there will always be misalignment in your life and your ability to lead your truth and sync up with those around you will give you much more fulfillment then only sticking to your tribe.
So how does this look in practicality?
The first step is to look at everyone with fresh eyes.
Don’t make assumptions that someone is unconscious.
Drop into what you are leading, open to what the person is giving you and back them up. Fully commit to being on their team.
See what’s there. Play. Explore.
Connecting to people and relating is truly the most important step in creating harmony on our planet.
Which brings me to my next big integration. The corporate world.
I’ve been sitting on a desire to lead movement in the corporate world for a while now. And for some reason I had a major blockage that it was too difficult to make happen.
A few weeks ago, I landed on my commitment to go for it and I decided I’m going to take these transformational tools and direct them towards supporting real estate agents.
I reached out to my old boss and told him point blank “I have a space where people are transforming and I want to bring this to the brokerage community.”
He set up a call for me and their sales development team and wouldn’t you know the women who I pitched was based out of Orange County (where Dance Alive is headquartered out of).
Coincidence? I think not.
I may or may not run this new sales program with my old company, but that is irrelevant to me. What’s important is, I initiated a path that feels super aligned and I know I have the skills and resources to lead and make a big impact.
After a few years of going deeeeep into the unknown, having that feeling of “ooooo this is exactly what I need to be doing right now” was incredibly satisfying.
Thanks to my training and experience with the Den, I’ve developed a framework that I firmly believe can help salespeople transform and I feel I’m the guy to lead it.
And the #1 thing that will dictate my success? My ability to integrate my movement in my day to day.
Not when I’m on a big pitch. That’s easy to get up for.
But when I’m relating to my partner.
Tuning into my heart when I’m around old friends.
Holding space for a family member.
These are the moments that will allow me to integrate my movement and show up how I need to show up to make things happen in the corporate world.
The integration is the whole purpose of this movement work.
And having this new direction will be another thing to hold me accountable in deepening my movement practice.
This is the key. Having a direction that will raise the standard in which you carry yourself.
I’ve applied this framework to dating and now have a beautiful relationship that feels very aligned.
I’ve applied this to launching a business and now I have a community that gives me tremendous fulfillment and purpose.
I’ve applied this to working out and now I get way more out of my workouts than I used to.
And now I am committed to bringing this energy everywhere I go in my day to day.
This is where the true magic will unfold.
Sending you love and light,
David
